The Proposition Manager is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of adviser propositions, ensuring both new and existing solutions meet adviser needs, regulatory expectations, and Sesame Bankhall Group’s strategic objectives. The role balances the development of new propositions, from initial insight and concept creation through to delivery, with the ongoing review and optimisation of existing propositions to ensure they continue to deliver value, remain commercially viable, and align with market trends. Working collaboratively across internal teams and external partners, the Proposition Manager ensures propositions are well-governed, insight-led, and effectively taken to market.

Responsibilities

  •  New Proposition Development

    Lead the design and build of new adviser propositions, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to define, agree, and shape the delivery model that ensures successful implementation.

    Generate insight driven concepts using market intelligence, adviser feedback, and internal stakeholder input.

    Facilitate cross-functional working groups, including external partners where appropriate, to shape and refine new propositions.

    Ensure new propositions align with adviser needs, commercial priorities, Consumer Duty requirements, and wider SBG strategic objectives.

    Coordinate with Distribution and Marketing teams to develop and implement effective go-to-market and communication plans.

    Work with Strategic Relationships to identify external partnerships and providers that support the successful design and delivery of new propositions.

    Support the Head of Proposition with updates on progress, risks, and status of proposition development activity
  • Proposition Review & Optimisation

    Lead the structured review of existing propositions to ensure they continue to meet adviser needs, deliver fair value, and support SBG’s strategic goals.

    Undertake analysis of proposition performance, market changes, regulatory developments, and adviser feedback to identify improvement opportunities.

    Recommend enhancements, repositioning, or decommissioning of propositions where appropriate.

    Work with the Proposition Enablement Manager and the Strategic Relationships team to ensure fair value assessments are completed and that associated panel propositions comply with governance frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

    Engage proactively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on proposition priorities and activities.

    Facilitate effective communication of the proposition roadmap, ensuring all teams understand upcoming work, dependencies, and required support.

    Develop and maintain productive working relationships with third-party partners to support proposition development and review
  • Governance, Reporting & Insight

    Ensure all proposition governance requirements are adhered to, including documentation, approvals, and compliance considerations.

    Produce regular reporting on proposition development, review progress, and key performance indicators for governance forums.

    Ensure evidence driven decision making by incorporating insight from market intelligence, commercial analysis, adviser research, and competitor benchmarking.

    Contribute to ongoing improvements in proposition governance, processes, and frameworks.
  • Strategic Contribution

    Maintain up to date knowledge of market trends and regulatory changes across mortgage, protection, GI, and wealth sectors.

    Ensure proposition activities are clearly aligned with overall business strategy and SBG’s commercial and customer-outcome objectives.

    Support wider departmental initiatives and projects as required to deliver strategic priorities.

Qualifications required

  • CII level 3 Certificate in Mortgage Advice
  • CII Level 3 Certicate in Insurance
  • LIBF Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice
  • CII RO5 – Financial Protection
  • RQF level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning
Desirable (any of the qualifications listed below – over and above essential requirements)
  • CII level 3 Certificate in Mortgage Advice
  • CII RO5 – Financial Protection
  • CII Level 3 Certificate in Insurance
  • RQF level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning
  • LIBF Diploma for Financial Advisers

    Experience required

    Essential

    • Previous role within financial services.
    • Demonstrable results in ensuring delivery of quality, error-free work, through close attention to detail.
    • Proven experience of working on propositions/delivery of change.
    • Good people skills to build effective stakeholder relationships.

    Desirable

    •  Previously operating in a propositions or technical role.
    • People management experience.

    • You will require an awareness of operational and regulatory risk, which may impact on SBG. You will be responsible for reporting to their line manager any risk which may impact on the business.

    • You will be required to deliver your role competently and comply with the relevant standards and procedures, ensuring that SBG deliver a service where suitable advice is given to the end consumer, which is adequately recorded and ultimately promotes good customer outcomes. This can either be through direct influence or in a support services capacity.

    • You will be required to ensure that the Consumer Duty principle is embedded into the team’s culture, departmental procedures and practices and that management controls and MI are in place to monitor performance against the Consumer Duty principle, where these are required by the business.

    Information Security

    • You are required to promote information security in your department, encouraging best practice by ensuring your staff comply with the information security principles, policies and procedures. You will need to monitor workplace practice in line with these policies and procedures and deal firmly with any instances of non-compliance.

    Essential Skills Required

    Ability to analyse and interpret reports and complex challenging data
    Ability to work under pressure and manage multi-tasks/issues simultaneously in a high-pressured environment
    Strong stakeholder management skills including negotiating and influencing skills at all levels and with third parties
    Highly commercially minded with a strategic approach

    Critical Knowledge Required

    Strong financial services industry insight and knowledge, including understanding of some or all sectors (Mortgage, Protection, General Insurance and Wealth)
    Understanding of competitor proposition landscape in the financial adviser support space
    Technical knowledge of the financial advice market and understanding of market trends and dynamics.
