Events Executive

Purpose of the Role
The Events Executive is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering a varied programme of corporate and internal events, including conferences, training forums, learning & development workshops and virtual events.
The role manages end‑to‑end event logistics, working closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure high‑quality delivery across the UK and Northern Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Event Planning & Delivery
Develop detailed event plans, timelines, and schedules for all assigned events.
Ensure events are promoted and communicated within agreed timescales.
Attend and support events throughout the year, including overnight stays. - Stakeholder & Supplier Management
Liaise with key internal stakeholders to understand event objectives and resourcing needs.
Manage relationships with external production, logistics, and venue‑finding partners.
Work with suppliers to source suitable venues and ensure smooth logistical delivery. - Budget & Commercial Management
Negotiate and review supplier quotations to ensure alignment with agreed budgets.
Approve event‑related invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
Monitor event spend and maintain financial oversight throughout planning stages. - Event Quality, Data & Reporting
Implement feedback mechanisms to measure attendee satisfaction and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Manage event data and MI, including attendance numbers, comparative insights, satisfaction scores, and polling/handset results. - General
Support wider departmental and business initiatives as required.
Deliver ad‑hoc projects aligned to departmental objectives.
Personal profile
Qualifications required
Essential
- Graduate level, or equivalent, Finance Degree
Desirable
- CeMAP, CII equivalent or Professional Marketing qualification.
Experience required
Essential
- Working knowledge of Mortgage & Protection Market
- An understanding of the financial services industry & legislative changes.
- Previous working experience in a sales targeted environment within the mortgage/protection intermediary market.
- A good understanding of the differentials within the distribution market ie DA/AR.
- Working knowledge of HTML
- Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Desirable
- Marketing background or experience of working in sales and marketing environment.

- You will require an awareness of operational and regulatory risk, which may impact on SBG. You will be responsible for reporting to their line manager any risk which may impact on the business.

- You will be required to deliver your role competently and comply with the relevant standards and procedures, ensuring that SBG deliver a service where suitable advice is given to the end consumer, which is adequately recorded and ultimately promotes good customer outcomes. This can either be through direct influence or in a support services capacity.

- You will be required to ensure that the Consumer Duty principle is embedded into the team’s culture, departmental procedures and practices and that management controls and MI are in place to monitor performance against the Consumer Duty principle, where these are required by the business.
Information Security
- You are required to promote information security in your department, encouraging best practice by ensuring your staff comply with the information security principles, policies and procedures. You will need to monitor workplace practice in line with these policies and procedures and deal firmly with any instances of non-compliance.
